A "Frozen" heart only love can melt......
#frozen

My girls LOVE this movie, 4 sisters in one home leads to a lot of sister sacrifice, and a lot of hurt feelings, frozen hearts, short tempers and unfathomable strength and loyalty.

as a mom I was reminded how very important it is to deal with each one of there emotions, the good the bad and the ugly, in an open, non judgemental way.

you see, over the years I have learned that when I as a mom have focused on training behavior above all us (I mean come on, we all want our kids to make us look good, right??) I fail miserably at helping them grow as people. I begin to create young people who are defeated and frustrated and ready to give up before they even have a chance to begin.

I admit, I am proud, I dont want my kids to have negative thoughts. I mean if one sister wants to kill the other it must be my fault....right??
wrong.... we are all driven by sin (yes even you mom;-)) If we comunitcate to our kids that what is happening on the outside is what is most important then we destine our kids to a life of feeling like failures...cuz we can not be good!

The ONLY power that can overcome sin is the power that comes with a life fully surrendered to Jesus. His spirit living inside of us is the only thing that will overcome the power of sin to rule our behavior.
To train behavior without giving our children the power they need to change their hearts will always lead to hopelessness and hopelessness often leads to rebellion.

So, instead of communicating to our kids that we expect them to be "good" lets Teach them that they are loved by Jesus, that they can never be perfect, that the only power in their lives to be good is the power that comes from the Holy Spirit living inside of them, filling them up with the Love of God.

sacrificial Love, the Love Jesus showed us on the cross, is the only thing that can melt a heart frozen by our sin.
